Famine 30 Camp

30 hours without food!! Scary? Well it seemed a great challenge to me, as I am such a food-lover and big eater! I joined this camp, having this aim in my heart that I wanna challenge myself, to feel the hunger of the people living in poverty(of course what i went through was incomparable to their intense sufferings). And at the end of this event, to be a more compassionate person.

So, on saturday(23rd august) morning, 20 of us from intec boarded a bus and went to HELP university. It had the 2nd biggest DIY camp in Malaysia this year, with 500 over participants.

*my group!! all 10 were girls…girls power!! =p

We were asked to take off our sandals, running around barefooted. Haha…i find it quite fun though =p

We had station game(have to learn to budget for the expenses of the family…hmm i acted as the father…), slideshows, designing and modelling session!!

*(right)Yohannes after 20 over years…a fully-grown,healthy young man! He thanks World Vision for supporting him more than just his physical need =)

*A poor little girl Kai Song from Laos…digging the land in search of food. how fortunate we are to have clean food each day…be thankful!

Hmm…wanted to upload interesting and amusing videos on the modelling(cat-walk) session here from my camera…but don’t know how… T T anybody mind teaching me?? thanks…

*My cute, sporting and energetic group leader Michelle!! She’s really wonderful…and hot!! We were drawing weird stuffs on her camp t-shirt =p

The last 4 hours of fasting, we moved to Stadium Hockey Bukit Jalil, where all the campers from various DIY camps gathered there. There was a torrential downpour, but my friend Yi Ning and I insisted in standing in the middle of the field with the crowd, watching the concert, sharing umbrella with few people until the final countdown to break fast. As the rain pelted down and hit against our body, we were once again reminded of the situation of the houses in the poor countries. They really suffer during stormy seasons…

The Greatest Love Of All by Whitney Houston

*One of the beautiful and inspirational songs sang during the concert…love it! Very meaningful indeed…

The Greatest Love Of All

I believe the children are our future
Teach them well and let them lead the way
Show them all the beauty they possess inside
Give them a sense of pride to make it easier
Let the children’s laughter remind us how we used to be
Everybody searching for a hero
People need someone to look up to
I never found anyone to fulfill my needs
A lonely place to be
So I learned to depend on me

[Chorus:]

I decided long ago, never to walk in anyone’s shadows
If I fail, if I succeed
At least I live as I believe
No matter what they take from me
They can’t take away my dignity
Because the greatest love of all
Is happening to me
I found the greatest love of all
Inside of me
The greatest love of all
Is easy to achieve
Learning to love yourself
It is the greatest love of all

I believe the children are our future
Teach them well and let them lead the way
Show them all the beauty they possess inside
Give them a sense of pride to make it easier
Let the children’s laughter remind us how we used to be

[Chorus]

And if by chance, that special place
That you’ve been dreaming of
Leads you to a lonely place
Find your strength in love

cute gift

Guess what is this…

Pict0165

hehe…it’s a olympic mascot sticker! you may ask, what’s so special?! erm well, it’s special to me la.

this morning, the older one of my younger bros(sound complicated eh), wearing a sad look, gave this to me, saying,

"jie jie, sorry le. i put rm1 into the turning machine, wanted to get a soft toy for you wan, but only can get a lousy piece of paper(sticker). wasted my money."

when i asked him why want to give me a soft toy(my birthday still long long way to go ma), this was his reply,

"you always give me a lot of things, treat me so good, i also want to give you something ma. somemore this one very cute. to celebrate your homecoming!"

well…i was speechless. touched by his little gesture of love. then he said, with a determined tone, "you accompany me to plaza tasek can? i buy all 5 mascots for you!"

hahaha~~accompany him to the supermarket which is 20min walk(if walk fast fast) from my home, just to get the whole set of soft toys…for myself! haha so funny la…

hmm still, am very touched to get "a lousy piece of paper". it’s the thought that matters. my bro is getting more and more caring…miss me too much??hehe…love you alex! =)

A true lady

August 16th, 2008 by reasontolive

2 days ago was steffie’s birthday. 20 over of us celebrated hers and chewie’s(actual date is 19 aug) birthdays. hmm not going into details…juz wanna say that despite the distractions and interruptions, God is in control! He is our provider of true joy, so overflowing that we have to share with others around us. =)

*the idea of dancing was originated by my very cheeky and creative housemate sing ping! hehe…in case i kena belasah =p*

steffie. i have always admired her. i’ve seen her taking such good care of her housemates when they were down with dengue and other sicknesses. yet, she stayed as low profile as possible and did not take any credit for herself. she cares for the people around her, not by words, but through her actions. her love for God and people is on fire!

so, for all those guys who call her "bro" and treat her like one; i juz wanna say this: steffie is a true lady! this is the type of girl you should appreciate and grab hold! this type of girl may not be the sweet sweet type who will manja manja you and make your hearts melt, but they are as encouraging as a sis, as fun as a bro, as capable as a dad and as caring as a mum. they are strong yet gentle. they may not have words as sweet as honey to greet you everyday, but they always brighten up your day and liften your spirit, somehow, through their words and actions. you feel comfortable with them, and you know you can trust them. attractive appearance may charm you for a while, but nobody can run away from the reality of growing old. however, the type of girl i mentioned above is able to charm you in a way you won’t realize at first, and, for a long long time. you will not worry if she’s the one beside you when both of you grow old together; because the more time you spend with her, the more treasures you are able to dig out from within her.

*pat jie, your name was floating in my mind too as i was writing this. you are awesome! time spent with you is enjoyable, filled with laughter and i always learn something new from you! =)*

way to go!! God bless you, ladies ;)

The furthest distance in the world

August 8th, 2008 by reasontolive

The furthest distance in the world - Rabindranath Tagore

The furthest distance in the world

is not between life and death

But when I stand in front of you

yet you don’t know that I love you.

The furthest distance in the world

is not when I stand in front of you

yet you can’t see my love

But when undoubtedly knowing the love from both

yet cannot be together.

The furthest distance in the world

is not being apart while being in love

But when plainly cannot resist the yearning

yet pretending you have never been in my heart.

The furthest distance in the world

is not

But using one’s indifferent heart

to dig an uncrossable river

for the one who loves you.

Updates at last!

Huhu…abandoned my blog for quite some time already. Had been busy with various stuffs. Had a rejuvenating and enriching time at Malaysian Youth Prayer Ralley with Peiling, Erin and A Han. Physically, emotionally and spiritually. 1st time praying for the entire day! Wow! Oh and not forgetting to praise Kluang’s yummy yummy food! =D Thanks so much to our beloved tour guides-grandmama Erin and my dear "nu ren" Peiling! ;) Oh and thanks to the ever lame A Han who humoured us thruout the trip =p)

CA 2 days ago was a blast! I could feel that i was in the right atmosphere. The right attitude of worship. Quite a few 1st-time servers that day. Steffie and Yi Ern-they were really rocking amcees =) Finally different style(important: NOT LAME!) of bringing the congregation into the heart of worship. Betty-quiet as she is, when she stood out front, she was soooo bold =) And she managed to give us all a really fun time! Larry-1st junior to serve in the music team. Finally witnessed his fantastic music talent with my own eyes and ears! My honour to serve along with him =) Shalisha-as her close friend, seeing her struggles, dilemmas and nervousness before the actual CA, i now have only this to say: you are a marvellous pianist la dear! I’m so proud of you! May the beautiful melody flowed thru your fingers give glory to Him alone =) Last but not least, KenLee-my very "geng" classmate! Still remember when Peiling asked me who to recommend to prepare refreshment, I immediately thought of him. And he proved that he is not only "geng" academic wise, but he can make a good ‘househusband’ =p Hehe i’m helping him to promote himself. Girls out there, he’s still single and available ya! =p Ohh Pastor Sandra is such a pretty, lively and humorous preacher!(Pastor Kenneth is so blessed to have her as his wife!!) Her message put everyone into stitches =D Yet at the same time, everybody learns something from her message. Invaluable things. The right attitude of worship. And that was the turning point for the music team. We played and sang at our best, without any worries anymore about whether the music sounded nice and in tune, the beats were correct etc etc. I remember seeing many people jumping joyously as a form of praise and celebration, and myself singing "I don’t care what people will say. I’m running after YOU" at the top of my voice, with my coarse voice(having soar throat). Yeah, the heart of worship is a worship from the HEART! =) Oh and not forgetting I sat in Derrick’s car back to hostel!! 2nd time this sem, enjoyable and comfortable ride! His driving is really steady(hehe…already the N time i’m praising his skill) =D

Ok getting late. Gonna go to bed already. Tomorrow got Sunday service to attend. Ciaoz!! ;)

Tired of this world I’m living in.

Tired of myself. my inability. my emotions.

Why does everything go so wrong…? T T

……

But that’s when God shows that He loves us more than we could ever imagine, through the things and people around…

Thank you to all my friends for all that lovely outings, shoppings, chattings, sharings, encouragements which come in all form(esp prayers, messages, emails and that special postcard i just received from a super nice and sweet friend who went to singapore last holiday =D)

My heartiest thanks and hugs to my dearest family who stand by me through my ups and lows. =)

*The joy of the Lord will always be my strength throughout my life.*

Lord, help me to always remember and count your blessings no matter what circumstances i’m in.

Miracle Man Walks Again Monday, July 9, 2007
He survived against all the odds; now Peng Shu Lin has astounded doctors by learning to walk again.

Man_with_egg_leg

*See a sort of inexplicable enthusiasm, firm confidence and indomitable tenacity in his face?!*

When his body was cut in two by a lorry in 1995, it was little short of a medical miracle that he lived. It took a team of more than 20 doctors to save his life. Skin was grafted from his head to seal his torso? But the legless Mr Peng was left only 78cm (2ft 6in) tall.

Bedridden for years, doctors in China had little hope that he would ever be able to live anything like a normal life again. But recently, he began exercising his arms, building up the strength to carry out everyday chores such as washing his face and brushing his teeth.

Noname
Doctors at the China Rehabilitation Research Centre in Beijing found out about Mr Peng’s plight late last year and devised a plan to get him up walking again. They came up with an ingenious way to allow him to walk on his own, creating a sophisticated egg cup-like casing to hold his body with two bionic legs attached to it.

Our God is a God of miracles! For people who make themselves in distress because of futile, frivolous and trivial reasons, see what myriad lessons we can learn from him?

Oh how I wish I’m given the permission to learn and sit for driving test soon! But looks like that’s a faraway hope…as far as my dream of  becoming a footballer…Well, God’s plan for us may not be what we yearn for, but it definitely is the very best for us!!

Had a really fun time with my dear old friends Ching Ching(^_^), Keat and Feng yesterday at Tasek Plaza =) I still miss, and will always remember, the good old days we share together…

朋友不需要多,几个真心的就够了。。。
