30 hours without food!! Scary? Well it seemed a great challenge to me, as I am such a food-lover and big eater! I joined this camp, having this aim in my heart that I wanna challenge myself, to feel the hunger of the people living in poverty(of course what i went through was incomparable to their intense sufferings). And at the end of this event, to be a more compassionate person.
So, on saturday(23rd august) morning, 20 of us from intec boarded a bus and went to HELP university. It had the 2nd biggest DIY camp in Malaysia this year, with 500 over participants.
*my group!! all 10 were girls…girls power!! =p
We were asked to take off our sandals, running around barefooted. Haha…i find it quite fun though =p
*the two emcees for the eng camp, Rudy(left) and Marcus(right). Marcus rocks!! he manages to keep the atmosphere high throughout the day!! haha…2 of my friends can’t keep their eyes off Rudy. aiyo la…
We had station game(have to learn to budget for the expenses of the family…hmm i acted as the father…), slideshows, designing and modelling session!!

*(right)Yohannes after 20 over years…a fully-grown,healthy young man! He thanks World Vision for supporting him more than just his physical need =)
*A poor little girl Kai Song from Laos…digging the land in search of food. how fortunate we are to have clean food each day…be thankful!
Hmm…wanted to upload interesting and amusing videos on the modelling(cat-walk) session here from my camera…but don’t know how… T T anybody mind teaching me?? thanks…
*My cute, sporting and energetic group leader Michelle!! She’s really wonderful…and hot!! We were drawing weird stuffs on her camp t-shirt =p
The last 4 hours of fasting, we moved to Stadium Hockey Bukit Jalil, where all the campers from various DIY camps gathered there. There was a torrential downpour, but my friend Yi Ning and I insisted in standing in the middle of the field with the crowd, watching the concert, sharing umbrella with few people until the final countdown to break fast. As the rain pelted down and hit against our body, we were once again reminded of the situation of the houses in the poor countries. They really suffer during stormy seasons…
The Greatest Love Of All by Whitney Houston
*One of the beautiful and inspirational songs sang during the concert…love it! Very meaningful indeed…
The Greatest Love Of All
I believe the children are our future
Teach them well and let them lead the way
Show them all the beauty they possess inside
Give them a sense of pride to make it easier
Let the children’s laughter remind us how we used to be
Everybody searching for a hero
People need someone to look up to
I never found anyone to fulfill my needs
A lonely place to be
So I learned to depend on me
[Chorus:]
I decided long ago, never to walk in anyone’s shadows
If I fail, if I succeed
At least I live as I believe
No matter what they take from me
They can’t take away my dignity
Because the greatest love of all
Is happening to me
I found the greatest love of all
Inside of me
The greatest love of all
Is easy to achieve
Learning to love yourself
It is the greatest love of all
I believe the children are our future
Teach them well and let them lead the way
Show them all the beauty they possess inside
Give them a sense of pride to make it easier
Let the children’s laughter remind us how we used to be
[Chorus]
And if by chance, that special place
That you’ve been dreaming of
Leads you to a lonely place
Find your strength in love
